It is recommended to use a solar charge controller between the panel and the battery to protect it from overcharging and optimize the charging process. The panel generates 19.8V which must be regulated to properly charge 12V batteries.

With 50W of power and 19.8V output, the panel generates approximately 2.5 amps under optimal direct sunlight conditions, sufficient to keep deep-cycle or recreational vehicle batteries charged.
